Coherence Neuro receives £500,000 ARIA grant for brain cancer research

The award supports an 18-month project investigating electrical approaches to tumour signalling.

Coherence Neuro received a £500,000 research grant from the UK’s Advanced Research + Invention Agency for work investigating electrical approaches to brain cancer. ARIA’s transparency report records an 18-month award to the company, then named Opto Biosystems, dated May 30, 2025. The agency announced the named research projects that November.

Led by Jake Stroud, the project will explore whether electrical stimulation can interrupt signals associated with tumour growth. The team plans to use neural interfaces to investigate these mechanisms and compare approaches to treatment.
