BionicM raises ¥710m in Series B first close for powered prosthetics
The Japanese medical robotics company is preparing its ASISTA prosthetic knee for a US launch in 2027.
The deal
BionicM has completed a ¥710 million first close of its Series B, with backing from B Dash Ventures and Mitsubishi UFJ Capital. The announced amount includes previously issued J-KISS share acquisition rights.
The University of Tokyo spin-off applies humanoid robotics to prosthetic legs, using powered assistance to help people with lower-limb amputations move. It has built a US sales operation around its Bio Leg product and is preparing a second product, ASISTA.
ASISTA is designed to assist both bending and straightening of the knee, including movements involved in stairs, slopes and standing up. The company plans to launch it in the US in 2027. The new financing supports that product transition and the production and commercial capacity needed to bring it to users.
