Athernal Bio secures nearly £700k Innovate UK grant
The grant supports the Cambridge biotech’s work on targeted immunotherapies for blood-cancer interception.
Targeting high-risk blood-cell precursors
Athernal Bio is developing immunotherapies for clonal haematopoiesis, in which mutated blood stem cells expand and can raise the risk of acute myeloid leukaemia and other blood cancers. Its approach focuses on eliminating high-risk pre-malignant cells before they progress to established disease.
The nearly £700,000 award comes through Innovate UK’s Growth Catalyst – Investor Partnerships programme. Athernal says the grant will support its operations and research and development as it advances its cancer-interception work.
