Targeted immunotherapies aim to stop blood cancers by treating high-risk clonal hematopoiesis before malignancy emerges.
Athernal is developing immunotherapies for clonal haematopoiesis, a condition in which mutated blood stem cells expand and can raise the risk of acute myeloid leukaemia and other blood cancers. Its approach is to target high-risk pre-malignant cell populations before a fully established cancer requires treatment.
The lead program, ath-001, is aimed at rare inherited blood disorders associated with accelerated clonal haematopoiesis and AML risk; a second program addresses therapy-induced clonal haematopoiesis in cancer survivors. Both remain in development, with the company advancing early-stage research toward clinical testing.
