Anaconda Biomed closes $56 million Series C to advance its stroke catheter portfolio
Its funnel catheter combines aspiration with temporary flow control to capture clots during mechanical thrombectomy.
A funnel design for clot retrieval
Anaconda Biomed’s catheter expands into a funnel near a clot, combining aspiration with flow arrest and reversal. The design is intended to contain clot retrieval and improve clot capture during mechanical thrombectomy, while reducing embolic complications. The company is developing a broader neurovascular portfolio around the same platform.
Clinical and regulatory milestones
The financing will support completion of the 327-participant ATHENA pivotal IDE study of the investigational ANA Funnel Catheter, continued product development and global regulatory approvals. Anaconda says its ANA5 catheter already has a CE mark in Europe; the ATHENA catheter remains investigational in the United States.
