Adaptavate closes £4 million first funding package for commercial scale-up
The mixed package supports licensing and manufacturing partnerships for carbon-storing wallboard.
Materials and production know-how
Breathaboard is a bio-based alternative to conventional plasterboard, designed to store carbon while fitting familiar construction workflows. Adaptavate also develops a drop-in process that lets gypsum producers make carbon-storing board using existing production assets, a route to scale that relies on industrial partners.
The £4 million first close combines equity with UK and European innovation funding. Adaptavate says it will use the package to accelerate licensing, build international manufacturing partnerships and support commercial deployment. A separate second close remains open, with its target not included in the first-close amount.
Scaling through existing plants
The company’s commercial model links its material formulations with production methods that partner manufacturers can adopt. That lets the company pursue broader supply without relying solely on capacity at its own pilot line.
