Adaptavate develops lower-carbon construction materials and manufacturing technology, including bio-based wallboard and processes that help gypsum producers make carbon-storing boards.
Adaptavate’s Breathaboard is a bio-based alternative to conventional plasterboard, designed to store carbon and use renewable agricultural feedstocks and waste. It is intended to be specified and installed like familiar wallboard, so builders can use it without changing standard construction workflows. The company also makes Breathaplasta, a lime-based plaster range designed for breathable, healthier buildings.
Alongside finished products, Adaptavate develops a drop-in manufacturing technology platform that lets existing gypsum producers make carbon-storing wallboard using their current production assets. The company focuses on licensing and industrial partnerships to scale production beyond its own pilot line. Its September funding package supports commercial licensing, international manufacturing partnerships and deployment of the wallboard technology; the company describes the announced £4 million as a first close of mixed funding, with another close targeted separately.
