Versatile RobotX develops agricultural robots that automate harvesting and crop handling for growers.

Product

The robots combine machine vision with adaptive manipulation to identify and handle produce. A modular design lets the company adapt a common platform to different crops and growing environments instead of building a separate machine for each task.

The University of Essex spin-out was founded by robotics researchers Klaus McDonald-Maier and Vishwanathan Mohan. Field trials with Wilkin & Sons of Tiptree and JEPCO have helped test the systems under commercial growing conditions.
