Salt & Fiber develops biodegradable textile fibres from seagrass washed onto beaches.

Product

Salt & Fiber is a Malmö-based materials startup founded by Annika John. It processes beach-cast seagrass into fibres and yarns for textile manufacturers, giving a commercial use to coastal biomass often collected as waste.

The company is developing pilot production and has secured a raw-material supply agreement with a municipality in southern Sweden. Its planned route to market centres on traceable local materials for textile brands, with commercialisation targeted for 2027–2028.
