Ponda develops plant-based textile insulation from crops grown on restored wetlands.
Product
Ponda is a Bristol-based biomaterials company whose first product, BioPuff, uses bulrush fibres as insulation for clothing and outdoor products. The material is designed as an alternative to animal down and fossil-based synthetic fills.
The business connects material production with wetland farming. It works with farmers and landowners to develop a traceable crop supply, turning plants grown on rewetted land into inputs for textile manufacturing.
Ponda’s commercial work spans fibre processing, manufacturing and partnerships with apparel brands. Its growth programme includes expanding production capacity and the network of farms supplying wetland crops.
