AI CAD software that turns laser scans and imagery into engineering drawings for infrastructure projects.

From site scans to survey drawings

Mach9 helps surveyors and civil engineers turn raw laser scans and imagery into CAD drawings. Its AI identifies features such as curbs and road markings and produces a draft that professionals can edit, check and finalise before using it in design work.

The software accepts data captured with customers’ existing equipment. Engineers retain control of the deliverable through tools for adjusting geometry and assessing the generated model, while reducing the amount of tracing they need to perform manually.

Software for infrastructure teams

Founded in 2021 by researchers from Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute, Mach9 initially developed reality-capture hardware before shifting its focus to software in 2024. It is headquartered in San Francisco and serves engineering firms working on transport, utility and communications infrastructure.

Customers have used the platform on more than 2,500 projects. The company’s product development centres on survey-grade geometry and the workflows licensed professionals need to review that output.
