Legmin

Japan · Agritech · Robotics

Legmin develops crop-spraying robots and operates spraying services that help farms carry out labour-intensive field work.

Robots built for crop rows

Legmin’s spraying equipment combines a mobile robot with software for recording field work and preparing applications. Its row-detection system uses LiDAR measurements to identify the spaces between crop ridges and guide movement through uneven fields.

The company develops its hardware, control software and operating applications together. Its equipment has been used with vegetables including green onions, cabbage and broccoli.

Providing the work as a service

Farms can outsource spraying to Legmin’s service rather than organise the labour and equipment themselves. The company is expanding through regional gas businesses that can use existing vehicles, local facilities and staff during the quieter summer period for gas deliveries.

This franchise model gives the service a way to reach farms beyond its original base in Fukaya, Saitama. Work records and operating data help the teams coordinate service delivery across locations.
