JEPLAN

Japan · Climate tech · Industrial tech

JEPLAN uses chemical recycling to turn used PET bottles and polyester products into recycled materials and licenses its technology.

Returning used PET to raw materials

JEPLAN breaks down used PET at molecular level, removes impurities and produces recycled material for new products. Its technology addresses bottles, polyester textiles and industrial films, helping manufacturers use recovered material in place of petroleum-derived inputs.

Plants and technology licensing

Established in 2007 and based in Kawasaki, Japan, the group operates PET chemical-recycling plants through Pet Refine Technology in Kawasaki and at its Kitakyushu Hibikinada site. Alongside plant operations, JEPLAN develops technology-licensing business in Japan and overseas.

The company is expanding the range of PET feedstocks its process can handle and improving the process to support repeated recycling across more product categories.
