IZANA develops compact magnetic sensing systems for defence and marine-infrastructure applications.

Detecting small magnetic changes

Its technology uses the giant magneto-impedance effect: an external magnetic field changes the impedance of a magnetic material carrying alternating current. That change provides a signal for detecting weak magnetic variations.

Taking sensing into the field

The Nagoya company is working toward uses including navigation without satellite positioning, subsea-cable inspection and surveys for buried metal before port works. Product validation is a central part of moving the technology from laboratory research into these environments.
