InhalPlus

Germany · Healthtech

InhalPlus develops an inhaled drug-delivery system for premature babies receiving breathing support, aiming to deliver more of a medicine to the lungs.

Drug delivery during neonatal breathing support

The Hanover medtech company is developing a bypass system that enriches a portion of the breathing gas with a medicine and delivers it directly near the infant’s nose. Its work targets the difficulty of delivering inhaled drugs when each breath contains only a few millilitres.

A research spinout moving toward clinical development

InhalPlus was founded in August 2026 as a spinout from Fraunhofer ITEM and uses Fraunhofer patents under an exclusive licence. It is developing its prototype toward a production-ready product and preparing regulatory work. The company plans an initial clinical study in neonatal centres in early 2027.
