Estuary Biotherapeutics
United States · Biotech
Estuary Biotherapeutics develops locally delivered gene therapies for patients with inherited polycystic kidney disease.
Restoring a missing genetic function
Estuary uses adeno-associated virus vectors to deliver genetic material directly to kidney cells. EST-201 carries a working PKD2 gene. EST-101 carries a functional region derived from PKD1, whose full-length sequence is too large for the same vector. Both are designed to restore polycystin activity in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, or ADPKD.
Delivery focused on the kidney
The company is developing local administration to reach the relevant kidney cells rather than distributing the vector throughout the body. Its candidates are investigational; clinical safety and efficacy have not been established. The two lead programs share delivery technology, providing a basis for further kidney-disease candidates.
