The company studies how disrupted protein folding in the endoplasmic reticulum contributes to disease. Its discovery platform combines target information, screening methods and disease models to identify and evaluate possible treatments.

Its ERS programme aims to relieve stress in pancreatic beta cells and support their function. Other research includes chemical chaperones for diseases involving abnormal protein accumulation. These programmes remain drug-development candidates.
