EnginZyme develops cell-free biomanufacturing technology that uses immobilized enzymes to make chemicals and ingredients through scalable industrial processes.
EnginZyme immobilizes enzymes on a proprietary solid support to create stable biocatalysts for multi-step reactions. Instead of relying on cells or conventional batch bioreactors, its cell-free platform can run continuously in fixed-bed reactors used in chemical manufacturing. That gives industrial partners a way to develop processes for producing chemicals and ingredients with biological catalysts while using familiar production equipment.
The company combines enzyme engineering, biocatalysis, automation and process engineering to develop tailored manufacturing routes. Its products and services cover applications in personal care, food, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, with work extending from feasibility studies through scale-up. EnginZyme’s model is to partner with manufacturers to engineer processes that can be deployed commercially, rather than only supplying a standalone research reagent. Its September financing supports its commercial biomanufacturing strategy.
