Deneb Medical is developing IZAR, a robotic spine-surgery station that supports surgeons from preoperative planning through image-based registration, screw placement and laser tissue ablation. The system combines robotic navigation, imaging, photonics and software to make spine procedures more precise and repeatable while fitting into the operating-room workflow.
Before surgery, clinicians use IZAR to plan screw trajectories and, where relevant, tissue-ablation volumes. In the operating room, the system registers the patient using imaging, then robotically guides placement of pedicle screws while remaining compatible with screws from different manufacturers. Its laser module performs navigated tissue decompression against a patient-specific plan, with real-time tissue identification and sub-millimetre targeting described by the company.
IZAR is intended to fit into normal spine-surgery workflows while helping teams perform procedures more consistently. The platform targets spinal stenosis, fusion and motion-preservation procedures, deformity correction, trauma and tumour resection.
The product is for spine surgeons and hospitals seeking robotic assistance for planning, navigation, stabilization and tissue decompression. Deneb is advancing IZAR through development toward market launch; the €14.7 million capital increase announced in 2026 includes a €7.2 million investment from Spain’s SETT to support that next phase.
