How engineers investigate and fix systems code
ByteAsk is a terminal and editor tool for engineers working on C and C++ systems. An engineer describes a change in an existing repository; the agent edits code and checks it with the project’s compiler, sanitizers and tests, returning the diff and raw reports for review. It can also inspect a running program through a bridge the engineer starts inside an existing debugger session, proposing commands that change state for approval.
The tool is available to install and supports managed models, an engineer’s own API key or a self-hosted model server. Its reference tools retrieve passages from standards and hardware documentation, helping developers inspect a claim against its source. A separately trained C++ model and broader infrastructure for sensitive enterprise deployments remain development plans described in the funding announcement.
