Walapay raises $4.6 million seed round led by Generative Ventures

Its payment infrastructure addresses the last local-bank step that can leave cross-border transfers dependent on several intermediaries.

Founded by brothers Tom and Dimitri Borgers, Walapay gives fintechs and payment-service providers one integration for accounts, collections, currency conversion and payouts. It combines local banking connections with digital-asset infrastructure, allowing clients to choose custody arrangements that suit their operating and regulatory requirements.

The company reports $2.5 billion in annualised payment volume and names Kast, Nuvei and Bastion as customers. That volume measures money moving through the platform, rather than revenue; the business case rests on handling payment flows with fewer layers between a global transfer and its recipient.
