Strong by Form raises $6.6m first Series A tranche for timber pilot plant
The Spanish materials company will certify its Woodflow-core structural panel and prepare its first commercial construction projects.
Engineering wood for longer spans
Strong by Form’s Woodflow system uses computational design to arrange wood fibres around the loads a building component must carry. Its Woodflow-core panel is intended to deliver the structural performance needed for long spans with less weight and material than conventional concrete floors.
The first $6.6 million tranche of the company’s Series A will fund certification of the structural panel, a pilot manufacturing plant in Spain and preparations for initial commercial projects. That moves Woodflow-core from advanced development toward a product construction and mass-timber partners can specify; the company’s Woodflow-skin architectural surfaces are already sold in several markets.
