Spiro’s network combines electric motorcycles, replaceable batteries, maintenance and local assembly. It reported 100,000 motorcycles and 2,500 swap stations across seven markets, with manufacturing plants in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda and a battery recycling facility in Nigeria.

Expanding the industrial footprint

Impact Fund Denmark and Equitane were named among backers of the $215 million equity financing. Spiro will expand its swapping network, production capacity and technology, with plans to enter the Democratic Republic of Congo and Ethiopia.
