Processing data where it is generated
Sophia’s TILE architecture is designed to run computing workloads in low Earth orbit. Processing satellite data locally could reduce the bandwidth and delay involved in sending every raw observation to Earth. The proposed applications include Earth observation, disaster response, maritime monitoring and defense.
Power and cooling for orbital workloads
The modular design combines solar power with passive thermal management. The financing supports further TILE engineering, thermal-technology development and partnerships needed to bring the platform into operation.
