Osavul raises €8.5m to bring hybrid threat intelligence beyond defence

The Luxembourg company connects information campaigns with cyber and physical risks, targeting the businesses that operate critical infrastructure.

Osavul has raised an €8.5 million Series A led by 33N Ventures, with Balnord, G+D Ventures and existing investor 42CAP participating. The company is applying experience gained with government and defence customers to corporate security teams.

Its premise is that an attack does not necessarily begin inside a computer network. Online influence operations, cyber activity and threats to physical assets can be parts of the same campaign. Osavul combines open and privileged data, investigates hostile actors and maps their activity against a customer’s people, facilities and supply chains. Evidence traces and analyst review help teams examine the reasoning behind an assessment.

Osavul says it serves institutions in more than ten countries and contributes to NATO’s Information Environment Assessment Capability. Energy, transport and financial-services operators face related risks but often divide them between separate security functions. A shared intelligence view could help those teams understand how a campaign crosses their organizational boundaries before deciding where to intervene.
