MineWatch raises $900,000 to expand underground mining technology
The Chilean company is scaling wireless tracking and dispatch tools that keep mine operators connected to workers and equipment in tunnels without Wi-Fi.
Tracking underground without conventional Wi-Fi
MineWatch uses battery-powered radio nodes to form a wireless mesh network for tracking people and equipment underground. The approach is designed to cover long tunnels without cables or conventional Wi-Fi, giving operators information about worker locations, vehicle movements and fleet activity.
The company reports paying customers in Chilean mines, including contractors at El Teniente. In these settings, dependable visibility can support dispatch and work coordination where surface connectivity does not reach.
Expanding a deployed mining system
MineWatch raised $900,000 in a round led by Alza Mining Tech. It plans to expand its commercial team and develop new product features, building on existing deployments rather than beginning with a purely laboratory-stage system.
