Mafix: Pre-Seed
Carbon-negative silicon fertilizer made by processing silicate rock in existing cement kilns.
The business
Mafix converts abundant silicate rocks into fertilizer through thermal processing in existing cement kilns. The approach is designed to remove carbon dioxide through enhanced rock weathering while producing silicon fertilizer that farmers can use with existing equipment. The company’s $5.4 million pre-seed round will support commercial-scale testing, including a planned 1,000-ton production milestone.
