JAOPS raises ¥260 million seed round for spacecraft operations
The Tokyo company supplies mission-control tools and operational support to space teams in six countries.
UntroD Capital and Midtown Frontier Fund backed the seed financing announced on October 1. JAOPS positions its Operations-as-a-Service model around the engineering and staffing burden of running a spacecraft mission, rather than selling a satellite itself.
Its Yamcs Gateway connects telemetry and command systems across development, testing and flight operations. Simulators and operational support give mission teams a way to rehearse procedures and use the same control environment once a spacecraft is in orbit.
The company says it already serves customers in six countries. Its first dedicated mission-control centre remains a development project; the announcement also discusses subsidies and research support separately from the equity round.
What the funding supports
- Expand operational capabilities
- Develop tools and simulators for first Mission Control Center
