iGii secures €26.5m package to bring porous carbon material into industrial use
The Scottish materials company is pairing investment with manufacturing scale-up for sensors, microheaters and flexible battery electrodes.
From nanomaterial to industrial components
iGii’s Gii is a three-dimensional porous carbon material that combines high surface area with conductivity and chemical stability. The company grows it through roll-to-roll and sheet processes, then applies it to multi-analyte sensors, microheaters and flexible printed battery electrodes.
That manufacturing approach is central to the financing story: the €26.5 million package is intended to move Gii toward commercial use and scale production. EU-Startups reports that it includes a €13.65 million Series B and €12.84 million in Scottish Enterprise funding; the announcement does not specify the instrument for that second component.
