HAKKI GROUP secures debt from Startup Debt Fund II

The mobility finance company uses ride-hailing data to help drivers access vehicles across four emerging markets.

The financing

HAKKI GROUP has received a loan from Startup Debt Fund II, the Japanese venture debt vehicle managed by SDF Capital. The lender announced the completed financing on November 2 without disclosing an individual amount.

The company helps ride-hailing drivers obtain vehicles in Kenya, South Africa, India and Thailand. It uses data on drivers’ work and earnings to assess creditworthiness, supported by local fleet management operations.

HAKKI’s model adapts to each market: asset finance in Kenya, operating leases in South Africa, fleet management in India and hire purchase in Thailand. The debt facility adds financing capacity at the group level; the announcement does not assign it to a particular country programme.
