H2SITE wins €3.4m Enova grant for onboard ammonia-to-power project
HydraNord Power will pair ammonia cracking with hydrogen separation to supply a 700 kW maritime fuel-cell system.
Turning shipboard ammonia into hydrogen and power
H2SITE’s membrane reactor combines ammonia cracking and hydrogen separation in one compact process. On board a vessel, it is designed to produce high-purity hydrogen for fuel cells while limiting ammonia contamination, a key requirement for reliable power conversion.
The Enova-backed HydraNord Power project will develop and validate the system at commercial maritime scale. Its planned 700 kW output moves the technology beyond earlier demonstrations toward repeatable auxiliary power for ships.
