GasLab raises about $1m pre-seed for artist-attributed AI music
Reinier Zonneveld’s startup is inviting private testers ahead of a public launch, with backing from Eric Demuth and Bas Beerens.
From a live-performance experiment to a shared platform
GasLab builds on years of machine-learning experiments by Zonneveld and Cas Luuring, including a model trained on Zonneveld’s own recordings for use alongside him on stage. The new company extends that work to participating musicians and labels, with Thijs Emondts joining the founding team.
An Amsterdam Dance Event preview is planned for October: visitors will be able to generate music from a prompt and see which participating artists are attributed. It offers an early test of the company’s central proposition—that generating a track and recognising its contributors can be part of the same creative experience.
