Eka Robotics raises $150m Series A

a16z and F-Prime co-lead a round valuing the robotics company at $1.45bn post-money.

Eka Robotics raised $150 million at a $1.45 billion post-money valuation, with a16z and F-Prime co-leading its Series A.

Eka develops robotic manipulation around a Vision-Force-Action model. By combining visual information with force feedback from its hardware, the system can adjust its movements as objects slip or resistance changes.

The company trains control policies through reinforcement learning in physics simulation. Its approach aims to make robots handle variations in objects and contact conditions without engineering a separate fixed process for every task.

The financing backs a company working on the link between an AI system’s understanding of a task and the physical control needed to perform it. a16z confirmed its Series A participation in an announcement on October 20.
