Medtronic invests $700m in Cornerstone Robotics to expand Sentire distribution
The strategic partnership will support commercialization of the surgical-robotics system in approved markets outside the United States.
A multi-arm system for minimally invasive surgery
Cornerstone Robotics’ Sentire system combines a multi-arm surgical robot, surgeon console and integrated imaging to support minimally invasive procedures. The company says the system has completed multispecialty clinical trials and is approved in China, the European Union and Singapore.
Medtronic’s $700 million strategic investment comes with a partnership focused on commercializing and distributing Sentire in approved markets outside the United States. The deal gives Cornerstone a route to broader international reach through an established medical-device company, as hospitals and surgical teams evaluate the system for clinical use.
