Cognition closes $2bn Series E at $48bn valuation
Accel and Andreessen Horowitz co-led the round as Cognition scales its autonomous software-engineering platform.
An AI agent for multi-step software work
Cognition’s Devin operates in a sandboxed development environment with a code editor, browser and shell. It can work through engineering tasks such as reading technical documentation, writing code and diagnosing build failures; the company also operates Windsurf, an AI-powered code editor acquired in 2025.
The financing announcement says Cognition will use the capital to acquire GPU clusters, advance machine-learning and reasoning research, grow systems engineering and expand enterprise deployment. The round values the company at $48 billion.
