Cerebras’ 2016 Series A raised $27.2m for its AI computing architecture
The early preferred-share financing backed the development of purpose-built AI computing systems.
Cerebras Systems raised $27.2 million in its Series A financing in May 2016, issuing about 32.1 million preferred shares at $0.85 each. Nasdaq Private Market dates the round to May 4. Eclipse was among the investors.
Cerebras set out to build computing systems designed specifically for AI workloads. Its approach developed into wafer-scale processors and integrated systems intended to reduce the movement of data between separate chips during model computation.
