CarbonFarm raises €7m Series A for rice methane reduction projects
Impact investors and development financier Proparco join the round as CarbonFarm extends a model already operating in 19 countries.
Financing change at farm level
Rice projects need both changes in farming practices and evidence of what those changes achieve. CarbonFarm pairs local project partners with measurement and financing support, helping reductions in emissions become projects that supply-chain buyers and carbon markets can fund.
The Series A brings a development finance institution, Proparco, into a syndicate led by Colam Impact. Suma Capital participates through SC Climate Tech Ventures I, marking that fund’s first investment outside Spain.
Building on established partnerships
The company’s model relies on producers, cooperatives and other local organisations that already work with farmers. Its project and measurement services connect those relationships with corporate buyers and climate finance. CarbonFarm names Mars Food, Tilda and Livelihoods Funds among its partners.
