IBM Ventures makes strategic investment in physics-computing startup BQP
The investment backs BQP’s effort to bring quantum and hybrid solvers into engineering simulation workflows beyond aerospace and defense.
Faster simulations for engineering decisions
BQP’s BQPhy platform applies physics-aware optimisation solvers to complex engineering simulations. Its tools integrate with MATLAB, Python and Julia and can use idle GPU capacity, helping engineering teams get results within the decision windows of aerospace, defense, space and energy projects.
IBM Ventures made a strategic investment in BQP alongside Venn10 Capital and Monta Vista Capital. The company will use the backing to expand beyond its initial aerospace and defense markets. BQP reports $8 million in total funding after the investment; it did not disclose the size of this specific transaction.
