Sequencing difficult infections

The company’s urine test uses clinical metagenomics to identify pathogens in recurrent or complicated urinary tract infections. Biotia pairs laboratory testing with software that interprets genomic data, helping clinicians investigate infections that conventional testing may leave unresolved. It also develops genomic tools for hospital laboratories and research teams.

Scaling the laboratory and test menu

The $9 million financing will expand Biotia’s New York City laboratory, support additional diagnostics in women’s health and extend its work into orthopedic infections. The company will also pursue reimbursement for its tests. The announcement names participating investors and new board members but does not assign the financing a series label.
