Finding the right genes to edit

Biographica tackles the discovery step before crop editing: identifying which genes control traits such as disease resistance, yield and drought tolerance. Its platform combines public genetic datasets with internally generated experiments, feeding laboratory results back into its models.

Trait discovery as a licensed product

The company is initially focused on licensing discoveries to seed producers through agreements tied to development success. Partners include BASF’s Nunhems and Cibus. The financing supports additional data collection, more crop traits and expanded laboratory capacity at Rothamsted Research.
