BATTIA secures €7.8m PERTE RENOCICLA grant for EV battery recycling
The Spanish company is developing an industrial process that dismantles end-of-life battery packs and recovers reusable critical metals.
From battery pack to recovered metals
BATTIA is developing a recycling line for damaged and end-of-life electric-vehicle batteries. Its process combines robotic pack dismantling with selective mechanical treatment and hydrometallurgy, aiming to recover lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese without first creating mixed black mass.
An industrial process still in development
The grant supports technology development and industrial deployment. BATTIA’s planned process also uses computer vision and an inert atmosphere during disassembly, while selective separation is intended to limit material mixing before chemical recovery. The company is working toward a pilot plant, making the financing a step toward demonstrating the full process at industrial scale.
