Backbone raises €4m pre-seed for food quality and compliance platform
The Belgian startup connects supplier, product and safety data for food businesses as it develops its platform and expands partnerships with certification bodies and ERP providers.
Food compliance in one operational view
Backbone brings supplier records, laboratory results, product recipes and regulatory requirements together for food quality teams. Its platform checks that information against food-safety standards and highlights gaps, helping teams work through compliance across suppliers, ingredients, production and distribution.
The company has expanded beyond Belgium into the UK and the Netherlands. Its pre-seed funding will support further product development and marketing, alongside partnerships with international certification bodies and ERP implementation firms that already work with food businesses.
