A vaccine for livestock methane
Methane-producing microbes in a cow’s rumen are the target of ArkeaBio’s vaccine. It prompts an immune response against those organisms and is designed to fit existing animal-care routines. The company is developing the product for farming systems where daily feed additives are difficult to administer, including grazing herds.
Focusing on the first market
AgriZeroNZ led the $15 million Series A2, with support from Breakthrough Energy Ventures. CEO Frank Wooten said the company had narrowed its priorities to its initial New Zealand market and reduced its team to preserve runway. It expects to submit a regulatory application in 2027 and is targeting commercial revenue in 2028.
