American Supercritical raises $8m for waste-heat power systems
Silent Ventures led the pre-seed round to commercialize modular equipment that turns heat from gas-turbine exhaust into electricity.
Riot Ventures, Harpoon, Reveille VC, Hillwood, Mana Ventures, Climate Capital and Alumni Ventures also invested, alongside angels.
The Denver company is starting with a testing and low-volume production facility. Its initial system uses supercritical carbon dioxide to recover exhaust heat, adding power generation to existing gas turbines.
