AcouBatt raises £1.1m pre-seed to bring acoustic battery testing to industry
Its sensors and AI analyse sound emitted by battery cells, helping manufacturers spot defects and process deviations during formation.
Listening for problems inside battery cells
As battery cells form and age, they emit acoustic signals that can reveal changes in their condition. AcouBatt combines acoustic-emission sensors with AI software to classify those signals and identify defects or process deviations in real time, giving battery manufacturers another way to monitor cell quality.
The £1.1 million pre-seed round will help the company develop its diagnostics technology and advance industrial pilots. That moves the approach from research toward use on production lines, where earlier detection can help manufacturers focus testing and improve process reliability.
