Watercycle Technologies builds systems that recover valuable minerals from brines, industrial wastewater and battery waste.
Recovery and refining in one process
The company combines selective extraction, mineral concentration and crystallisation to turn dilute or mixed waste streams into useful materials. Its Direct Lithium Extraction and Crystallisation technology targets lithium salts suitable for battery production.
The systems are modular, allowing recovery and water-treatment equipment to be deployed around different feedstocks and industrial sites. The approach links resource recovery with treatment of the water carrying those resources.
Circular battery materials
Watercycle works across mineral recovery and battery recycling. Its development programmes aim to retain lithium and other useful materials within industrial supply chains and reduce the amount lost in waste streams.
The University of Manchester spinout operates from Manchester and is developing pilot and demonstration projects with partners in refining, batteries and automotive manufacturing.
