Vertical Aerospace develops electric vertical-take-off aircraft for airlines and other aviation operators.

An electric aircraft for short journeys

Vertical’s Valo aircraft combines vertical take-off and landing with wingborne flight. The company targets short regional and urban journeys, with a planned range of up to 100 miles and cruise speed of 150 mph.

Its engineering combines proprietary battery and propeller technology with systems supplied by aerospace partners. A hybrid-electric variant is also under development for missions requiring greater range.

From flight testing to certification

The programme is progressing through flight testing and aircraft certification work. Vertical demonstrated piloted transitions between vertical and wingborne flight and is preparing facilities for certification aircraft and early production.

Airlines and aircraft operators including American Airlines, Avolon and Bristow appear in the company’s announced order relationships. These are prospective aircraft deployments as the programme advances towards commercial service.
