Nexeon develops silicon anode materials for battery manufacturers seeking to store more energy in lithium-ion cells for vehicles, electronics and energy storage.
Changing the material inside the cell
Nexeon’s NSP2 material replaces graphite in the anode of a lithium-ion battery. The company positions it as a drop-in material: battery designers can use higher energy density to reduce pack size and weight, or retain the available space for greater capacity.
The same design trade-off applies beyond electric vehicles. Nexeon targets wearable and medical devices where battery space is constrained, as well as consumer electronics and stationary energy storage. Its business supplies a component material for these products rather than a complete vehicle or battery pack.
