Closing the surgical entry site

Fetoscopic procedures require instruments to pass into the amniotic cavity. KOVE’s device addresses the opening that remains after the intervention, with the aim of reducing membrane-related complications and premature birth.

The device uses the same entry ports as the original procedure, avoiding an additional puncture to place the closure. KOVE says application takes less than five minutes. The company is advancing toward first human studies; the intended clinical benefit remains to be established in patients.
