Bekia connects households and informal collectors with businesses that need traceable recyclable materials, using digital collection records and software for recycling operations.
Bekia’s app lets households arrange collection and exchange recyclable items such as paper, plastic, metal and electronics for cash or rewards. It connects them with collectors, while digital records capture material type, weight, grade and payment. That gives downstream businesses a more organized view of the recyclable material entering the supply chain than informal collection alone.
Bekia is expanding beyond the consumer-facing pickup service with Bekia Next, software for businesses that buy or process recycled materials. The company says the product will turn collection data into traceable supply records and CO₂-avoidance certificates for corporate customers. Bekia reports that its network has diverted more than 25,000 tonnes of waste, served over 100,000 customers and enabled more than 2,400 people to earn; those are company-reported figures. Its September seed financing is intended to expand engineering, launch Bekia Next and test the model in another African market.
